Brianna wins 'em all

Is this the documentation of the adventures of the great and mysterious ( and often hilarious) Dr Smooth? Or just the incessant ramblings of the 19 year old drama queen Brianna Akins? only a true mastermind can decipher the truth!

Last Weekend

Jesus Mary and Joseph it has been a mighty long time since I last posted! But, because of my absoultey horrid memory, i can only recall backto last Friday, so you only get an update from then. Hopefully I have enough blogging stamina to get through an entire weeks events.

Fridau afternoon was really fun. I went to Futureshop with Gareth for the first time in a while, and it felt like old times. We took a bunch of random CD's off the shelves and tried them out, discovering many new awesome bands. Unfortunately to do that, you must sift through all the random awful stuff that looked interesting at first glance. Some bands you should check out : The Libertines, The Bravery, and Thirteen Senses.
After school my mom picked me up and we drove to Errington to see our favorite Tarot card reader, which was really cool. She didnt day anything really life altering, but it was fun all the same. On the way back to town i bought the thirteen senses CD that i had discovered earlier in the day, and have listened to nothing else since.

Friday Night I went to Dovers Arts night, because all of my friends who werent busy or lame were going to be there. Plus, i had heard that Kevin wore a dress, and that I could simply not miss. I mean, I have seen Gareth in a pink frilly dress, a yellow old fashioned dress, and even a tube dress.. but never before have I seen Kevin in one. So I put on my slightly skanky green and black lace shirt, and off I trounced to Dover. And by trounced, i mean I caught the number 2 ( and accidentaly got off at the wrong stop :P). I got there at around 6:15, and since the show didnt start until 7, i got to hang out with Stef, martha and Glenn, listening to Stephen/ Grace/James/Shaun etc rock out in extreme jazz, and appreciate all the awesome art in the atrium. The show was fantasic. Like seriously, I was so entertained. Katie and Jen were hysterical, as usual, especially katie's story about the wine! Stef's little grade eights did a hilarious lip synch to I'm a Believer, which was so cute! Mel and Rosie's song was great, and so was most everything else... but the unquestionedhighlight of the night was pyramus and thisbe! I swear to god i hadnt laughed so hard in absolute ages! Megs as the stagefrightened narrator! I still cant believe she memorized all those lines! Nicole "Oh wall! oh...lovely wall! oh, wonderful, lovely wall!" was amazingly funny, and then Kevin. Oh my. that was simply brilliant!
So after the THREE HOUR SHOW ( not complaining, it was great) I helped Stephen carry the piano out to his car, and then was hanging out around the band room with Glenn, when creepy Cale ( the guy who hits on Martha all the time) came to talk to us. Ive never actually spoken to him before, I only know who he is because of visiting the drama class last semester. Anyways, so he comes up to me and Glenn, and is like, "hey there Glenn!" and Glenn, being so hostile towards him ( for obviosu reasons) just kind of looked at him. And then Cale looked awkward for a second, and started to walk past. But then he like, rubbed my shoulder and was like, nice to meet you... And I was all EEW EEW never touch me again and leave forever. So after that, we went outside and hung out with Stef and Martha, until Stef drove me home. Fun times!

Saturday I woke up at nine, and got ready really fast because my mom said we were going to leave for Victoria at 10. Mel arrived at about quarter to, so we left right on schedule. It wasnt the greatest of rides, because my mom was in a really melancholy mood that morning, and Mel was in the backseat so she couldnt hear anything. And for some reason the three of us couldnt agree on music. But i got an ice cap, as usual for my victoria trips :) We got to Tiffany's house around 12:15, and I had forgotten, but she was in the midst of packing for her new place. We were only there for about ten minutes before we took Tiffany's car and drove downtown, where my mom simply dropped off me and Mel and told us to have fun. This is very unusual behaviour from my mom, but greatly appreciated. Hanging out with Mel downtown was weird... She seemed to be in a really bad mood, so it was like trying to make small talk with a post. I didnt really know what was going on, and she wouldnt tell me. One of the only things that bothers me about Mel, is that when she's upset, she tells everyone its no big deal, but then continues to act upset ( so it IS a big deal). So we just kind of wandered around for a while, me making awkward conversation. Eventually I was hungry so we went to this cafe place, and I bought some pizza ( and Mel discovered the most delicious drink in the world, a London Fog) and Mel started talking! This was good, and we ended up staying there for over an hour. AFter that, things were back to normal, and we had good times looking in little shops, and I even bought my mom some little heart magnets to make her feel better. Unfortunately, a little after that, we got hopelessly lost. Well, maybe not so much hopelessly lost. We were trying to find some specific stores/roads, which just happened to be nowhere to be found. Sooner or later, we got back on track, and then had to book it back to the car to meet up with my mom and Tiffany. we left shortly after that, as it was about 5:15. The ride home was much the same, as my mom was still sad ,and Mel still couldnt hear anything.. oh well, I sang at the top of my lungs and had fun. Although I always feel weird after being to the city. I dont know why.

We got back into town around 7:15, and I had to rush around really fast and get ready, because I was meeting Stephen, Tim, and Laura at the Tsar at 7:30. I had to grab my video equipment too, because i was filming Laura's part in the music video that night. The four of us had a lot of fun that night, laughing and talking, and I almost convinced Stephen to join arts alive! anyone who loves to sing as much as him should definitely go into it. Almost every song that came over the speaker woudl be belted out by me and him. oh what fun! around 11 me and Laura were going to have to leave to catch the last bus back, but the boys didnt want us to go, so Stephen said he would drive us all back individually ( because he is so nice) even though we said it was allright. Anyways, we decided to go for a walk for fun, and then go back to Starbucks after to get the car. The walk was dark, and cold, and it started to rain, but none of us cared. we ended up going so far that the boys just decided to walk us home instead of driving, so thats what we did. and we told stories, and sang songs, and it was wonderful fun. They stayed at Lauras for a while to rest before their big trek back to Starbucks, but eventually had to leave :( But then i got to film! Which was really hilarious, but I think turned out really well. WE ended up staying up til 2 in the morning talking, because we hadnt had a sleepover with just the two of us in sooo long. But then her mom came in and told us we should go to bed because Laura was still kind of sick.

The next day I stayed a lot later than I was planning to. I was supposed to go to the beach to film for Miriams video, but she never got ahold of me, so i figured it was cancelled. I didnt leave Lauras until about 2, because i'm a slovenly laze-orb. Spent a nice little day around my house, doing a lot of nothing besides getting ready for the film shoot that night. I left a message at the Moddles house to let them know where Cora's house was for the shoot, and then I called Gareth to remind him about it. Well. gareth said, well, i cant get a ride. I was like, thats not problem, I can pick you up! But then he was like, "actually... i never wanted to do it in the first place, so Im not coming." ........ I was speechless. I asked him if he would do it three freaking weeks ago, and he said that he would. Being my best friend, I assumed he would pull through on this favour for me. But no. And the thing that made me most angry, was that he wasnt even going to call me and tell me. He was just going to not show up, so I would have had to flounder around searching for someone else to play the part.Needless to say I was really mad. So I just said, whatever Gareth, and hung up. Luckily I got ahold of Cora and she said she was willing to play the bass for me. I went over to Cora's place around 6, because everyone else was supposed to arrive at 7, and I knew that it would take at least an hour to set up. Cora's house is so awesome! I mean, theyve got a STUDIO! Thats where we were filming, and it was like heaven for the musically inclined. I didnt really get to utilize the stuff though, because i had to spend forever taping up random paraphernalia of Laura up on the walls. Seriously, that girl has awards to last a lifetime. Around quarter to 7, Glenn, Stef, and Martha showed up. Glenn, cause he's my drummer, and Stef and martha because they had nothing to do and all of us were at Cora's. Being my bass player in a supposed all guy band, Cora decided it would be quite fun to dress up like a guy! So we bound her chest with duct tape, made her wear my Men With Brooms touque, and orange snowboarder shades. She looked remarkably guy like, for someone who looks nothing like one normally. Stephen showed up a little later, and then we EMOFIED him and Glenn! It was so awesome, they looked suprisingly good with eye makeup and emo-ness. Then, we all jammed for a while, because jamming is fun. I cant believe we a) let Stephen at a piano b) put Glenn in the vicinity of a drum set and c) gave me a microphone. We played/sang jazz tunes, and Muse, and whatever else we could think of. However, we then realized it was nearing 8 o clock and the Moddles ( my lead singer and guitarist) had not shown up yet! This brought me frightfully close to panic, as that meant we only had an hour to film ( and I couldnt reschedule) and oh, WE WERE MISSING TWO MORE BAND MEMBERS! So, the only logical thing to do, was dress up like a guy and be my own lead singer. Seriously, THAT was the best idea I could come up with under the circumstances. I would have made Stef do it, but she didnt know the song well enough, and neither did Martha ( who ended up playing guitar) . So then Stef became my camera person. I had to put my hair up tight and wear a fedora, and also duct tape myself together, which was actually quite entertaining ( as was spinning around getting the tape off, later). The filming was spectacular. I got a lot of awesome shots, and we had a really stellar time making it! I was kind of angry/worried about Geoff and Monkey though. They never came, and we ALL know that Geoff is the worst driver EVER. Anyway, at 9:30 I had to leave, it being a Sunday night and all.

This is a picture of the boys being emo!

I think Stephen is probably pretty smart, at least from what I've heard. *shrugs* But I know you don't mean book smarts, you mean "girl smarts" which no boy has. So again, this commen is semi pointless.
