This post is eye smartingly bitchin!
Well, that might be a little pre-emptive. I dont actually know if this post is going to be that bitchin yet. Buuuuut, it IS about my Vancouver adventures, and misadventures, so thats pretty exciting.
so friday morning after I got back from Adens, I started packing in a mad frenzy. Usually I am so anal about packing. Like, I make a list of all the things im going to need, and overpack on clothes, and spend like, an hour, folding everything and making it fit. Yes I know, im crazy. But this time I just kind of picked some clothes off the floor and shoved them in my bag, and grabbed some other miscellaneous stuff I thought I might need. After getting ready quickly, my mom drove me over t oAlleahs house to hang out before we left for the ferry. We left on the 5:00, but I was getting really worried, cause I had been trying to get ahold of Laura for days to tell her which ferry we were catching, but i hadnt been able to. I felt so bad, thinking she would be sitting at home, and miss the trip because she thought I didnt call. However, I called Tim from the terminal for one last attempt, and wonder of wonders, he answers! Turns out they are already in Vancouver, because they took an earlier ferry. And they werent even going to call. And to think I was worried.
either way, me and Alleah had a fun time on the ferry trip, and we even discovered that Ace was on the ferry too! Alleah and him kind of had an awkward moment, but it was mostly cool. WE got into Horseshoe Bay around 7, and Llowyn was there to meet us. I dont know about you guys, but isnt there something really nice about having someone meet you when you arrive? Its just a really special feeling. Oooor im insane. Take your pick. Either way, Llowyn picked us up and we went carousing about Vancouver, driving down the big city streets, and then the bad sort of town, just to show me and Alleah how sheltered we are. We went for some poutine as an appetizer at Belgian Fries ( DELICIOUS) and then to Moxies for our super late dinner. We got a little crazy, and by the time dessert came around, we had war painted ourselves with syrup. ( gross, I know) Afte rthat we drove to UBC to meet up with the others, but as soon as we parked, Llowyn realized he had left his violin at the restaurant. So, he freaked out and rushed back, and left us to go find the dorm. Now, I know where Stephens dorm is in the daylight, coming from the bus stop, but NOT from some parking lot in the middle of the night. SO we wander around Vanier, his group of buildings, but they ALL LOOK THE SAME!!! so we went into some building that I "felt" was the right one. Knocked on some doors, turned out it was an all girl dorm. Oops. Eventually we gave up and called them, so Stephen, Tim, Laura, Chris, and Trevor all came to the rescue. We hung out a the dorms for a while, and scared some people ( "hi my names brianna. actually scratch that, call me Captain Welcomes-you-aboard) then eventually Alleah and Llowyn went back to his place, and I went to bed with Steve, and everyone else found a place in the common room.
In the morning The four debators had to go, and Stephen had to go to his call for the matinee show, so I was stranded on campus. I called Alleah at 10:30 to come meet me, but she didnt end up coming til 1:30. So I wandered around outside ( it was a GORGEOUS day!) found a Starbucks to feed my freakish expensive habit, and sat on a bench in apretty wooded area listening to tunes, watching squirrels, and reading the archie comic i found in my purse :P
Finally at 1:30, ALleah showed up, and we hopped on the bus to get downtown. ( keep in mind, we dont know the city at ALL) but we managed to get off at Granville and Broadway to take the next bus to Robson, where we planned to try on ridiculously pricy things even though we cant afford them. However.. we got on the bus on the wrong side of the street. sooo we were heading for Richmond. And this was a b-line bus, that only stops in specific far-away places. So like the true adventurers we are, we decided to just go where the bus took us. Inevitable, Richmond.
But then, what happened to ctach my eye, but... a FAIR! and the bus just stopped right in front of it. It was pure kismet, i tell you. So of course, we got off. We ended up spending three hours running around like mad fools at this fair, going on all the rides and laughing our head off, playing games, eating gross fair food, and what i think is the BEST part... we bought giant photo buttons of ourselves. Seriously, we are just that cool.
Soon, it was getting late, so we bussed back up to the campus to go see Stephens show!! which I will detail later, cause this ahuge post already and im getting tired!
