Tofino trip extraordinaire!

Well, i had a FANTASTIC weekend! Me, Jae, Heather, and Ryan had been planning to go to Tofino this weekend for at least a month, and i was really looking forward to it. I hadnt been there in about four years.. and the last time i went i was with my sister and her friends, and we were only there for a day. So friday me and Heather went to the grocery store and bought a bunch of food for a picnic, and then we packed it all up, and I made cookies, and we got all of our blankets and towels and football and bathing suits and shoved it all in Jaes parents station wagon ( cause his car is too small.) Then we just had to wait for Ryan to get off work. Finally around 6 we were all ready to go, so we hopped in the car, plugged in the ipod, and off we went!!

The ride there was fun. We were all pretty excited, and we had Heathers ipod and mine filled with awesome tunes! The best part was when I dont Feel Like Dancin came on and we all started hardcore car dancing and singing at the top of our lungs. We also stopped in a couple places here and there to smoke up.. like in cathedral grove! and we took a lot of pictures. Im going to warn you right now though, i spent pretty much the entire weekend intoxicated in one way or another, just so you know.

We got into town around 10, and decided before we found a place to sleep for the night we would go to the beach and drink a few beer, which we did. It was still pretty rainy and gross though, which was really discouraging, as we were supposed to be beaching it up all weekend! So once it was around 11 ish we figured it might be wise to crash for the night. But we didnt know where to go! We had decided long ago that this was going to be a mostly spontaneous trip ( which, if you know me at all, you'll know that sometimes thats really hard for me :P) but spontaneity in August in Tofino is near next to impossible. But really, we would have been content to sleep in the car, or on the beach, or whatever. As it happens, we found a 2 bed hotel room at the best Western right outside town ( that was hella expensive!!!) but at least we had a place to sleep, and a place to have showers! We spent the rest of the night drinking and watching porn on tv until we all fell asleep. Cause we are classy folks.

The only trouble spot of the weekend came the next morning. Checkout time was 11 o clock, and while I dig the non scheduled trip sometimes, I am a stickler for the rules. So at 10 I got up and had a shower, and started to clean the place up ( we made a HUGE mess!) and tried to wake everyone up, but they refused to get up! I got a little pissed off cause it was 10:30 and no one was helping me clean up. They finally got up at quarter to, and of course they all wanted showers. I know I was being anal and no one really cared that we were out at 11:15 instead of 11, but still. Anyways, I was just a little mad, and I got over it quick enough. We went and got some coffee, chilled on the dock for a bit, and grabbed some lunch at this place on the water. By the time we were out, the sun was shining!! So we went to the surfshop so ryan could rent a board and a wetsuit, and drove around to find a less expensive place to stay that night. We ended up finding this real cute little guesthouse called the sand dollar, which worked for us! After we changed into our bathing suits, we were off to the beach! On the way we chugged some Full Throttle to wash down the dexadrin, so needless to say we were a little hyped up by the time we got there. We spent absolute hours at the beach too, Ryan went surfing, and we drank ciders and beer, and smoked some weed, and I went swimming and bodysurfing in the waves. I must have looked insane because the water was COLD and I was the only one in the whole ocean not wearing a wetsuit. But I was having such a good time that I refused to get out until my joints stiffened up from the cold and the sun was starting to go down. We chilled on the beach for a bit longer though, waiting for Ryan to finish surfing, then we drove back to the Sand Dollar. On the way, me and Ryan said something at the same time, so he jinxed me, and we take jinxes seriously! I ended up not getting to talk for 2 hours until I could finally buy him a coke. I got him back in little ways though, like taking a ridiculously long shower so that he would have no hot water, and shaking the coke i bought him really really hard so he couldnt even drink it. The others thought I must have been really pissed off, but I honestly wasnt. Me not talking for a few hours is a lot easier than you would think. Anyways, once that was over we wentougnht to this incrdibly expensive place for dinner, and i figured since I was shelling out a lot of money already, I might as well make a night out of it and bought two martinis as well! Then it was back to our rooms to get ready for the night. We cracked open some wine, and some beers, and had at her! Also, it being a special occasion and all, me, Jae, and Ryan all had a fair share of shrooms ( this would be my first time ) . Let me tell you, i had one epic night.

By now it was about 11, and we drove about 20 minutes to one of the beaches, and it was completely deserted. The stars were the most amazing things i had ever seen. It was like the sky was playing a light show for me, totally awesome but a little messed up. It seriously felt like we were in our own world, cause the beach was surrounded by trees so all you could see was trees and beaches, and all you could hear was ocean. It really felt like a dome. Anyways, we went walking in the ocean, and looking down was freaky, cause you could see the reflection of the sky, so it looked like you were going to walk straight into an Abyss. SOme clouds started covering up the stars, and I freaked out and thought it was the Nothing from the Neverending Story, so me and Ryan walked alll the way down the beach, and I kept trying to get him to take off his shoes and throw them away. Basically the whole predominant theme for me was that I wanted humans to just like, go back to the ocean. Buildings and cars seemed incredibly repulsive, and its a good thing I didnt have my cell phone on me, cause I probably would have thrown it in the ocean. I kept being like, what did they do before Cell phones Ryan?? what did they do before cars Ryan? I was all about ditching technology, and living on the beach forever, After a while, we went back to the car to see what Jae and Heather were up to, and I didnt like that at ALL. I kept being like, can we go back to the beach, can we go back to the beach please?? and so we did, and we sat on this log and talked abotu life, the universe, and everything for HOURS, but it really felt like years, centuries even. After a while, it felt like we had always lived on that log, me and Ryan. I cant think of anyone I would have rather been there with either. All the crazy things he had ever said made SO MUCH SENSE. it was bizarre. And I wanted to stay there forever too. I wanted it to always be night time, and always at the beach, and always talking. Ryan tried to tell me what time it was once, and I was like, NO WATCHES!!! dont be a slave to time!! it was kinda funny. We also kept drinking beer and smoking weed, so I was pretty fucked. Eventually, we realized we had to leave, Jae came and found us, and we all giggled for a while, and hallucinated a bunch, and it was great and crazy fun. When I got home I just crashed though, and had a sweeeeeet sleep.

The next day we packed up all our stuff again, and headed down for one last day at the beach. WE couldnt stay long, but I swam some more with Heather, and Ryan surfed some more, and we threw the football around some more. Around 4 we left, and I was sooo sad to go. The ride home was sweet though. I was sooo baked and we just listened to music and looked out the window. Ooh and we got ice cream at Whiskey Creek. Halfway through the ride home, I was like, Vacations over, time to go home.. sad.. but then I realized I LIVE with these people. We would go home, and still be together! That was such a nice feeling.

So that concludesmy Tofino adventure!
